This week, @Vaccines is curated by Laura Kallen and Elayna Oberman from PATH representing Take on Typhoid, an initiative to raise awareness of typhoid as a global health priority and the importance of an integrated approach to typhoid prevention through vaccines and improvements in water, sanitation, and hygiene. Take on Typhoid is spearheaded by the Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium (TyVAC)—a partnership between the University of Maryland School of Medicine, the Oxford Vaccine Group at Oxford University, and PATH—and the Coalition against Typhoid at the Sabin Vaccine Institute.

This week, they will be talking about all things typhoid—the global burden of typhoid; the significance of recent SAGE recommendations and the announcement of a funding envelope for typhoid conjugate vaccines from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance; the importance of an integrated approach to prevent typhoid; the growing threats of drug-resistant typhoid, climate change, and urbanisation; and tools and resources to advocate for the importance of typhoid prevention and control strategies.

Use #TakeOnTyphoid to join the conversation, and follow @PreventTyphoid to continue the fight to take on this disease!
