After travelling back to India as an adult and witnessing the suffering of polio survivors who had no support or rehabilitation, Ramesh vowed to make a difference in the lives of polio survivors and to ensure the disease does not claim new victims.</p> <p>In 2008 Ramesh hand-cycled 7140km across Canada, raising $300,000 for polio eradication, education, and rehabilitation. Since then, Ramesh has become a global advocate in the fight against polio,  partnering with organisations including Global Citizen, Rotary International, WHO, UNICEF, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, all to encourage global citizens to support polio eradication. He has completed hundreds of speeches to students in their schools in support of vaccination, and met with countless leaders including Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Education Rights Activist Malala Yousafzai, Bill and Melinda Gates all to gain more support to end polio.</p> <p>Across World Immunisation Week, for the next seven days, Ramesh will be sharing his experiences of activism for polio eradication worldwide and celebrating progress towards this goal.
