Bernard Okoe Boye is the Minister of Health of the Republic of Ghana. He is a physician and politician with an extensive background in healthcare, public service, and community service.
Dr Okoe Boye's professional career spans through numerous impactful roles in healthcare. He served as a Medical Officer at various institutions, including La General Hospital, Kibi Government Hospital, and Tema General Hospital. His commitment to healthcare was further demonstrated through his leadership as Board Chairman of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where he played a crucial role in advancing healthcare infrastructure and services.
In addition to his medical practice, Dr Okoe Boye has made significant contributions to education and policy-making. His political career includes serving as Deputy Minister for Health and as the Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency from 2017 to 2020. In Parliament, he was actively involved in the Health Committee and the Assurance Committee, shaping healthcare policies in Ghana.
His leadership capabilities were further recognised in 2022 when he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority. His role as Minister for Health underscores his dedication to enhancing healthcare access and quality across Ghana.
Dr Okoe Boye holds a degree in human biology and medicine, a master’s degree in public health, and an MBA.
