Anna Halén

Senior Adviser, Global Health Department for Multilateral Governance and Humanitarian Policy, Sweden

Anna Halén joined the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 15 January 2025 where she works as a Senior Adviser in the team for Global Health at the Department for Multilateral Governance and Humanitarian Policy. In this role, Ms Halén is the liaison officer for Gavi, the International Vaccine Institute (IVI) and WHO, inter alia. 

Ms Halén is a political scientist and public health expert with 20 years of experience in global health. She served for six years as health counsellor at the Swedish Mission to the UN in Geneva and was seconded to WHO as an advisor to the Deputy Director-General for three years, including one year working with COVAX. She has 15 years of experience of working with WHO. 

She started her career at the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs working on national public health policy and was a co-author to the first public health bill to parliament. 

Ms Halén holds a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Uppsala University and an MSc in Global Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (London, 2010).
