President, Global Vaccines, Merck Human Health
As President of Global Vaccines, Andrew (Drew) Otoo leads the MSD vaccines commercial enterprise to enable access to products across the company’s portfolio, spanning HPV, pneumococcal, pediatric, Ebola and pipeline assets. A career pharmaceutical professional and executive leader, Dr Otoo has more than 20 years of experience in vaccines across diverse geographies, including emerging markets.
Dr Otoo joined Merck in 2019 as Vice President of Marketing and Global Commercial Lead for the company’s pneumococcal vaccines portfolio. Prior to that role, Drew held several positions at Pfizer from 2007 to 2019, including Vice President & General Manager of the Vaccine Business Unit, Japan and Regional Marketing and Launch Lead for PREVNAR 13® for Europe and Asia, based in Paris, France. Prior to joining Pfizer, Drew served in pharmaceutical industry roles across sales, marketing, management consulting and medical affairs.
Having lived and worked across four continents, Dr Otoo understands the complexity of unmet medical needs and access challenges in both developed and emerging markets. He brings a lifelong passion to meaningfully contribute to global health and health equity. Dr Otoo holds a Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Pharmacy (Healthcare Marketing and Pharmacy joint degree) from Drake University, Iowa.
