This week @Vaccines is curated by the Zambian Lions, in collaboration with Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance. LCIF and Gavi have partnered since 2013 to protect children in the world’s poorest countries, chiefly through the support provided by the millions of volunteer members – or “Lions” – that LCIF has around the world.

Tweeting this week will be members from Zambia, which undertook an ambitious immunisation programme just last week: the introduction of the two-in-one measles-rubella vaccine. To help ensure the success of the campaign, in-country Lions worked with communities, local leaders, in-country partners, and ministries of health to not only organise people and resources, but raise awareness and increase participation in the immunisation activities. Over the next few days, we’ll be sharing facts, photos, and thoughts from this campaign, and exploring what social mobilisation for immunisation really means on the ground. Find out more by following @Vaccines this week!
