Brussels, 20 May 2014 - Global advocacy groups ONE and ACTION on Tuesday launched campaigns calling on donors to respond generously to the GAVI Alliance replenishment round for 2016 – 2020.
ONE linked its campaign to the upcoming football World Cup and urged people to “pay attention not only to the shots and saves on the playing fields of Brazil, but in health clinics around the world.”
At the same time, ACTION’s campaign underlined the extent to which donors have followed through on pledges made to support immunisation.
The two groups released their reports at the GAVI Replenishment launch meeting in Brussels, where the Alliance announced the goal of raising an additional US$ 7.5 billion to immunise 300 million children between 2016 and 2020, saving six million lives.
