In an annual status report on the Global Campaign to reach Health Millennium Development Goals,, global leaders stress that the severe economic crisis must not threaten these commitments and actions.
Initiated by the government of Norway, the Network of Global Leaders regroups 12 leaders from developing and donor countries, including major GAVI donors Norway, the Netherlands and the UK. The Network aims to provide political backing and advocacy at the highest possible level for the Global Campaign for the Health MDGs.
In its report, the Network re-affirms its support to the Campaign and outlines some of the actions needed to reach MDG 4 & 5, putting strong emphasis on more effective collaborative efforts among partners.
In line with these coordinated efforts, GAVI highlights the recent Health 8 (H8) initiative, and ongoing work with the Global Fund and the World Bank to channel broader health-related finance.
